About the Author

Jim Cutler

Coach Jim Cutler, known as "Mr. Baseball" to his community, was a lifetime teacher and coach in Bedford, Virginia. Coaching baseball from 1960 to 2006, he earned 513 victories. Career highlights include a Virginia State Baseball Championship (AA) in 1977 and coaching in the U.S. Olympic Festival in Houston in 1986. He was named Virginia State Coach of the Year in 1996, inducted into the Salem-Roanoke Baseball Hall of Fame in 1996 and the VHSL Hall of Fame in 2001. He was given a key to the City of Bedford . A life-long athlete himself, Coach Cutler ran four marathons in one year, participated in several triathlons, and at 82 maintains a golf handicpap of 8. Raising four children, he always put famiy first, including his amazing wife and wonderful kids in many of his adventures.
